From Kyoto, we had taken the Thunderbird Limited Express train to reach the port city of Tsuruga, in Fukui prefecture. We’d already veered away from the Kansai region by this time, and reached Hokuriku, which is more to the northwestern part of the main island of Japan (Honshu). We noticed that there were several bronze statues near the train station, similar to the city decors that we encountered in Kyushu. Pretty cool! Read more
