Last month, one of my good friends from Japan dropped by for a quick visit, so me and my other friend waited in NAIA Terminal 2 until it was time for us to pick him up. Terminal 2 doesn’t really have any good waiting spots (unlike Terminal 3 which is my personal favorite). A waiting spot meaning a cafe or restaurant to pass hours in haha! So we googled the best possible places and came up with KafeLokal which was just at the other end of the Arrival area.
It wasn’t too shabby looking, actually quite cute! But the cafe was al fresco hence no air conditioning so you’ll have to contend with the stifling Manila heat from time to time depending on the season. I was just happy there were enough seats and tables, even a small bar area.
They’re even offering some cheesy souvenir mugs lol.
KafeLokal boasts local flavors and ingredients with a global feel, hence the name of the cafe. Sounds promising.
The prices for the drinks were acceptable enough, the hot drinks being the cheapest. If you’re just gonna wait here while nursing a drink, it won’t really kill your wallet. They also serve food but I forgot to take photos of the menu lol. They have a glass case displaying snacks and pastries, but we didn’t feel like eating anything sweet at the time. It was just SO HOT, so we decided on some smoothies and cold tea.
My friend and I brought books to kill time since we were both bibliophiles at heart yey! And luckily, this random kitty was clamoring for my attention! I just adore demanding cats! I want to baby them to death haha!
I really felt bad for it since we didn’t get any food lol.
Still it followed us to our table. Yey please keep me company!
I guess it was getting bored lol. We’re here for the long haul.
To my great delight, another cat joined the party! lol and wow it was chunky and big yey!
The heat makes everyone really lethargic and sleepy hehe.
I just kept watch over them in between reading my book and waiting lol.
After a few hours it was able to snooze comfortably aww
The same with his friend lol.
My friend tried the Dalandan Smoothie which was SOOOO REFRESHING (man, it was such a humid afternoon ugh). It wasn’t too sweet after the ice has melted. I ordered hot tea but wanted it cool, so I let it steep in hot water then doused it with tons of ice. It was so delicious after then!
Pro Tip: You can ask for unlimited cups of ice especially when it’s understandably blazing hot outside.
Finally awake and still asking for food lol.
Better closeup of kitty’s friend.
I actually wouldn’t have left these cats if we didn’t realize that the cafe was already filling up with Japanese people, meaning the flight from Tokyo has arrived yey!
Meeting my blurred friend in Arrivals ahaha!
Well, if you’re going to be playing the waiting game in NAIA Terminal 2, KafeLokal proves to be comfortable enough (and the fact that they have CATS!!! which I totally loved) although sometimes the humidity of the country can be really unbearable but isn’t something that can’t be countered with a good dose of iced drinks. I’m still curious about their food and coffee so I’m looking forward to sampling them when the next opportunity arrives.
